I am a highly skilled Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine with over 25 years of experience as a chest specialist, which means that I’ve seen pretty much every type of cough, sneeze, wheeze, breathlessness and snoring issue that you (or your partner) can imagine so I’m sure I can help to fix yours. Why not get in touch and find out how?
I diagnose and treat people with cough, breathlessness, wheeze, snoring and chest pain or tightness. I see patients with a wide variety of respiratory disease, including asthma, COPD, chest infection & pneumonia, COVID-19, lung cancer & lung nodules, pulmonary embolism , sleep apnoea, sarcoidosis and tuberculosis. I also have a specialist practice in Aviation Respiratory Medicine, looking after pilots with lung problems and patients with respiratory disease who need advice about their fitness to fly.
My approach is to listen carefully to what you tell me, as many diagnoses are suggested by careful history taking. I’ll then listen to your chest and suggest to you what I suspect is going on. I’ll discuss with you what tests may be required and what the next steps are. If you need any medication such as an antibiotic or an inhaler at the initial consultation then I shall prescribe it for you at the time. I am very fortunate to have an excellent team working with me who can help arrange any tests that you require. My PA (Janine) will organise a follow up consultation so that you and I can go through your results and plan your road to recovery. If you need further assessment with another specialist such as a cardiologist or ENT surgeon then I can arrange this rapidly.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool (MBChB) with postgraduate education (MSc and MD) at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London. I trained in Respiratory Medicine at St Mary’s, The Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, and Charing Cross Hospitals. I additionally underwent subspecialty training in Aviation Medicine with the Royal Air Force and also subspecialise in respiratory aviation medicine.
Consultant in Respiratory Medicine since 2004. Visiting Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of West London plus lecturer on the Aviation Medicine courses at Kings College London. I am the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s Consultant Adviser in Respiratory Medicine.
NHS Consultant in Respiratory Medicine for over 10 years at The Whittington Hospital & Ealing Hospital, London. Now full-time in independent practice.
