I perform joint and soft tissue injections and aspirations to treat a variety of rheumatic conditions. I also specialise in the investigation and treatment of rare autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases, and medically unexplained symptoms.

My role as an Acute & General Internal Medicine Consultant principally involves diagnosing, stabilising and treating life-threatening and non-life-threatening medical conditions. I look after patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, delivering high-quality and personalised care.

As well as delivering evidence-based and patient-centred care, I apply my expertise in a thorough, holistic and compassionate manner, ensuring the needs and wishes of my patients are at the heart of the care I provide. I pay close attention to my patients’ cultural and health beliefs, as well as supporting them with the wider impact of their condition and treatment on their lives.

Dr Malley obtained his undergraduate medical degree (MBChB), including an intercalated bachelor’s degree (BMedSci) in Medical Biology, from the University of Edinburgh. He then undertook his early postgraduate medical training while working in a variety of Inner London teaching hospitals including St Thomas’ Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. During this time, Dr Malley obtained the MRCP(UK) diploma and furthered his interest in both education and research with a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education and in his role as an Honorary Research Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital, with co-authorship in numerous research articles. Furthermore, he worked as an Associate Editor for the Oxford Medical Case Reports journal.

Dr Malley undertook higher specialty training with dual accreditation in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine whilst working in the Thames Valley region, developing his expertise at the internationally renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). He was selected to partake in the one-year Chief Registrar programme – the Royal College of Physicians flagship work-based leadership programme – during his time at Wexham Park Hospital where he received the annual Leadership Award and gained formal recognition for his instrumental role during the COVID-19 response. Dr Malley was then appointed to the Trainee Leadership Board during his final year of higher speciality training at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust where he further developed his management credentials. Since 2022, Dr Malley has been a Consultant in Rheumatology and Acute & General Internal Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital in London.

At the Royal Free Hospital, Dr Malley jointly runs the Lupus Clinic and has established the Rheumatology Hot Clinic – a rapid access clinic for patients with new and acute rheumatological conditions – designed to optimise the early recognition and prompt treatment of potentially damaging and organ-threatening diseases. He collaborates with specialists in Oncology, as part of the Immunotherapy Multidisciplinary Team, to treat cancer patients developing Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor-related Rheumatic Diseases. He provides education and training by organising and chairing the Rheumatology Postgraduate Meeting; delivering bedside teaching to MRCP(UK) PACES candidates; through educational and clinical supervision of trainees; and as the Rheumatology Lead for a student cohort at University College London Medical School. He also maintains his interest in academia and research as a Principal Investigator participating in multi-centre trials.
