I enjoy meeting patients to assess symptoms covering the whole field of clinical cardiology, and particularly specialise in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disturbances, including providing interventional treatments with catheter ablation and device implantation. I investigate a wide range of symptoms including palpitations, dizziness and blackouts, chest pain and breathlessness. I aim to reach a rapid diagnosis by organising prompt diagnostic tests, including the use of mini loop recorder monitoring devices where necessary. As well as advising on lifestyle and medications, I can organise rapid admission to the Harley Street Clinic and other central London hospitals to provide minimally invasive catheter ablation procedures, with the intention of providing a lasting solution and avoid the need for long term drug use. As well as atrial fibrillation ablation, and ablation of all other cardiac arrhythmias, I also specialise in the implantation of pacemakers, including complex devices such as defibrillators and biventricular pacemakers to treat heart failure.

Medical training Dr Julian Jarman studied medicine at Cambridge University and gained his clinical medicine degree from Imperial College London. His further training was undertaken in several London teaching hospitals, as well as Harvard University medical school. He gained his doctorate of medicine higher degree for research into mapping of atrial fibrillation from Imperial College London. He remains active in research into atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias. Expertise I have over ten years of experience in all aspects of clinical cardiology. My special area of expertise is the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cardiac rhythm disturbance. I perform over 400 interventional procedures a year, treating complex specialist referrals for both elective and emergency procedures, and run a busy outpatient practice in a national referral centre, receiving frequent requests to provide second opinions. Current appointments Dr Jarman is a full time Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at The Royal Brompton Hospital, a teaching hospital in central London and the national referral centre for complex cardiac diseases. He sees and treats private patients here, and also has admitting rights at the Harley Street Clinic and Wellington Hospital. He also holds the post of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Clinical Cardiology at the National Heart & Lung Institute of Imperial College London, and regularly teaches medical students, as well as visiting fellows and consultants training in interventional catheter ablation techniques and complex pacing.
