Dr Imran Mannan

Acute Medicine, General Internal Medicine, General Medicine, Geriatrics

Qualifications:  MBBS, BSc (Hons), MRCP(UK)

Medical Specialty:  Geriatric and General Internal Medicine, Acute and General Medicine

I specialise in managing a range of conditions in older adults, balancing complexity and uncertainty. I have a particular interest in acute geriatrics, frailty, falls and management of older patients undergoing surgery.  I lead the Orthogeriatrics service at University College Hospital, jointly working with a range of specialists to deliver high quality, multidisciplinary care. I always aim to help individuals achieve their independence in function, as soon as possible. Managing falls is not only about assessing the consequence of a fall, but also ensuring steps are taken to prevent falls in the future. I have experience of older people requiring management of their multiple conditions simultaneously. This needs a holistic approach and an understanding how each individual condition can impact on the overall health of an individual. I also specialise in treating acutely unwell general medical patients in hospital, often presenting with unexplained symptoms. I am firmly focused on ensuring that patients feel comfortable and empowered to discuss all aspects of their care.

Dr Imran Mannan completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College, London. During this period, he also undertook an additional BSc in Cardiovascular Sciences. Dr Imran Mannan completed his post graduate training across North East and North Central London in both Geriatric and General Internal Medicine. During this time, he undertook a Fellowship in Clinical Leadership. He has a keen interest in medical education and training and is involved with both undergraduate medical student teaching and post graduate medical education.

I am a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician at University College London Hospitals, NHS Trust. I work across Geriatric Medicine and Acute/General Medicine and have experience in managing a broad range of general medical conditions. I underpin my clinical approach with focusing on the individual and helping to ensure what matters most to them, is addressed.
