I have extensive experience of all aspects of adult cardiology, in particular the management of patients with complex coronary artery disease who need coronary angioplasty and stenting as part of their treatment. I also specialise in treating people with structural heart problems, including heart valve abnormalities, which we can sometimes treat using percutaneous valve repair, and the congenital heart conditions patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defect. These are commonly called ‘holes in the heart’ and can often be treated minimally invasively with great success. Additionally, I am able to offer investigation and treatment for a wide range of cardiac conditions including high blood pressure, chest pain, shortness of breath, heart failure, dizzy spells and blackouts, raised cholesterol and palpitations. My specialist interests include heart problems related to kidney disease, complex coronary artery disease, disease of the mitral valve and less invasive techniques for mitral valve repair, pulmonary hypertension and cryptogenic stroke. Dr Chris Baker qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1990 and completed his PhD in Myocardial Hibernation and Stunning at the Hammersmith Hospital. He was trained in cardiology at the London Chest and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals and is on the specialist register for both Cardiology and General Internal Medicine.

Dr Chris Baker is an Interventional Cardiologist and a Consultant at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He performs hundreds of coronary procedures each year. He has a special interest in the management of patients with heart disease who are also affected by kidney problems, and runs a specialist clinic at the North West London Renal Unit.
