Dr Bhattacharjee read medicine at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals (later Kings College) where he achieved a 1st Class in Physiology. He was selected into the MB/PhD programme and won funding for his research from the Migraine Trust. He successfully completed his medical training, qualifying with distinction. He did his post-graduate general medical training in prestigious jobs at St. Thomas’, Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, National (Queen Square) and Kings College Hospitals. He did Specialist Registrar training in Neurology between the Royal Free Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square.
Dr Bhattacharjee is a Consultant Neurologist with NHS practices between 3 hospitals: National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (UCLH), London Royal Free Hospital, London Lister Hospital, Hertfordshire.
Dr Bhattacharjee is a member of the Royal Free IVIg committee and the North Central London Sub-regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel. He has helped develop a large plasma exchange service treating patients with various neuro-immunological disorders at the Royal Free. He presents work regularly at national and international conferences and has served in an advisory capacity to pharmaceutical companies involved in the treatment of neuro-immunological diseases including MS and CIDP.
Dr Bhattacharjee has a large general neurology practice and is experienced in diagnosing and managing the full range of neurological conditions the most common of which include:

Dr Bhattacharjee is also a highly specialised neurologist and sees patients with peripheral nerve and neuromuscular disorders, and autoimmune neurological conditions at the Royal Free. He runs a joint clinic with a haematologist seeing patients with haematological diseases causing neurological problems. As a consultant specialising in peripheral nerve diseases, where many diseases of other organ systems e.g. rheumatology, haematology, can cause neurological damage, he has strong working links with clinicians from other specialties and is experienced in dealing with some of the most medically complex patients who have neurological involvement from their diseases. He is also unique amongst neurologists in running a neuropathic pain clinic at Queen Square where patients with neurological diseases causing pain are seen for diagnosis and management.
