Over the last three months, The Physicians’ Clinic has expanded its acute hospital admissions service. We now have six acute care physicians supporting private GPs with patients who are acutely ill and in need of urgent care. The Physicians’ Clinic has been running an acute hospital admissions service since the Clinic was founded in autumn 2011. This was initially provided solely by Dr Paul Glynne, Founder Director here and formerly Medical Director at University College London Hospital, but an increase in demand has made expansion necessary. The new service will provide urgent hospital admissions for acutely ill private patients between 6AM and 10PM, 365 days each year.
Admissions to the Princess Grace Hospital
All of our acute cases are now cared for within a newly refurbished acute medical admissions ward at The Princess Grace Hospital. “This represents a shift for our service to private patients and a big shift within the Princess Grace Hospital,” explains Dr Glynne. “This is the only dedicated non-surgical acute care ward in the central London private healthcare sector and it enables acutely ill patients to be supported by a dedicated acute care team, which includes specialist nurses as well as consultants.” The acute hospital admission service is supported by the high dependency and Intensive Care Unitat The Princess Grace Hospital, which now has nine beds for patients who are critically ill and who require support at Level 2 or Level 3 and provides ventilation (invasive and non-invasive), advanced cardiovascular monitoring and multi-organ supportive care. Haemofiltration, analysis of blood gases and thrombelastography (TEG) are also available at every bedside.
