Last week's Endolive was the largest ever live endoscopy course in the UK. The aim of the conference was to improve patient care through the demonstration of best practice by means of live endoscopy demonstration, state-of-the-art lectures, and symposia. The meeting was held in the Birmingham conference centre, where > 550 consultants, nurses, and trainees attended from throughout the UK and Europe. Two of TPC's gastroenterologists, Dr Gavin Johnson and Dr George Webster, were part of the organising committee, and on the expert faculty. Live endoscopy was projected from four UK centres (Glasgow, Cardiff, Nottingham, and University College London Hospital). The team at UCLH were responsible for demonstrating interventional endoscopy of the bile duct and pancreas (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) for which they have an international reputation. The conference was a huge success, with more than 99% of delegates stating they would come to the next conference. Dr Gavin Johnson and Dr George Webster lead to deliver the largest endoscopy and gastroenterology teaching portfolio in the UK, including running the annual London Live Endoscopy course.
Consultant Dr Gavin Johnson commented "live endoscopy events are an important way for consultants and trainees to observe international experts practice the art of endoscopy and so keep themselves up to date with advances in endoscopic technique and technologies to incorporate into their own practice".
ERCP, and all other endoscopic procedures are available via the Gastroenterology team at The Physicians Clinic.
